22 signs of heavy metal poisoning in children
Updated: Oct 7, 2021
As shocking as it may sound, studies show that babies these days are born with hundreds of different chemicals including industrial chemicals, pollutants, heavy metals, and pesticides. And heavy metals are especially dangerous because exposure to these metals early on can affect their whole life trajectory.
So.. it’s essential to know how to protect yourself and your kids from exposure as much as possible.
But first, what are heavy metals?
Heavy metals are naturally occurring metals that have a relatively high density. Most of them are toxic or poisonous even at low concentrations. For example, mercury, lead, chromium, cadmium, and arsenic are the most toxic heavy metals.
How are children exposed to heavy metals?
All the toxic metals pass easily from pregnant mothers to their unborn babies. Children are also exposed to heavy metals through different foods, dental amalgams (silver fillings), childhood immunizations, old lead-based paint, water pipes, the air they breathe, coffee mugs, toys, pesticides… The list goes on and on and although you can do many things to protect your child from exposure, no one can escape heavy metals completely.

How do heavy metals affect children’s health?
Generally, children are more susceptible to the toxic effects of heavy metals and are more prone to unintentional exposures.
Harmful consequences on children’s health include mental retardation, neurocognitive disorders, behavioral disorders, respiratory problems, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and so much more (1).
22 common signs of heavy metal toxicity in children:
facial asymmetry
strabismus
impaired motor coordination
muscle twitching
tics and seizures
delayed speech
behavioral issues
hyperactivity
trouble paying attention
sudden mood swings
disturbed sleep
chronic bedwetting
anxiety
allergies with sudden onset
asthma
eczema and rashes
gut issues
compromised immune system
frequent yeast infections
recurrent parasites
autoimmune disease diagnosis
sensory issues
What to do if your child is experiencing any of the above symptoms?
To be honest, all of the above symptoms are just only a fraction of possible signs of heavy metal toxicity because any other health issue can be aggravated by toxicity. So.. No matter what’s the issue, getting rid of toxicants that weigh down the body is essential.
BUT there are so many diets and products, teas and tinctures that are designed to detox the body but they rarely address heavy metals – toxicants that need
to be cleaned out the most (because they hardly ever come out of their own )
